Job Description

The Staff Battery Electrical Engineer will design and analyze battery BMS and electronics systems. Ideal candidates are experienced HV electrical design engineers with battery management system experience who are comfortable in a fast-paced, collaborative, and dynamic startup environment.

Cuberg is commercializing next-generation battery technology to power the future of electric mobility. The company was acquired in 2021 by Northvolt, a global supplier of sustainable, high-quality battery cells and systems. As Northvolt's Advanced Technology Center operating in Silicon Valley, Cuberg is developing and commercializing lithium metal batteries, building an innovation ecosystem around lithium-ion technology, and leveraging Northvolt's state-of-the-art manufacturing capabilities to rapidly scale up production of advanced batteries.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop high voltage battery hardware (BMS, cell sense board, interconnects) and software (state machine, diagnostics)
  • Develop requirements for battery systems and collaborate with the team to verify them
  • Create BMS control and diagnostic algorithms
  • Own all aspects of developing battery BMS and other electronics from concept to prototype to mass production

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ years of high voltage battery electronics, interconnection, or BMS HW design experience. Working knowledge of BMS SW design and development.
  • Expert knowledge of BMS architecture and implementation
  • Demonstrated ability to take battery and BMS electronic hardware from concept to product
  • Strong fundamentals in electronic circuit design and development including board design, layout, fab, and bring up
  • Electronics skills including testing and debugging with oscilloscopes, etc.
