Job Description

Surrozen is recruiting a Research Associate to collaborate within the Bioanalytical Assay (BA) Development group. She or he will contribute to the development and qualification of assays to support biotherapeutic drug development, as well as participate in assay transfer to contract research organizations to enable validated sample bioanalysis of nonclinical and clinical studies. The Research Associate will work closely with colleagues in both research and development across all departments at Surrozen. The preferred candidate will bring enthusiasm, intellectual curiosity, scientific integrity, and a desire to understand biological principles of regenerative medicines.


Responsibilities

  • Perform plate-based assays (kits and de novo) to support BA analysis of samples from the In Vivo Pharmacology department. These assays include pharmacokinetic, immunogenicity, and biomarker.
  • Participate in project teams and work with senior BA colleagues to devise the bioanalytical strategy for lead candidate molecules to support translation from discovery-stage to clinical-stage therapeutics.
  • Use a chemistry analyzer to measure serum panels in support of In Vivo Pharmacology studies.
  • Conduct assays related to product quality of samples from the Protein Science department.
  • Maintain a sample inventory and record experimental procedures using an electronic notebook.
  • Summarize results and help with quality control of technical reports in support of business development activities and regulatory filings.
  • Participate in regular cross-functional team meetings and function as a strong collaborative colleague.
  • Prepare and manage common laboratory reagents and buffers.
  • Perform quality control checks on data and electronic notebook entries.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry or related field.
  • Minimum of 2+ years relevant wet lab experience
  • Extensive hands-on experience with quantitative plate-based immunoassays
  • Competency performing standard laboratory techniques including preparation of buffers, sample management, notebook documentation
  • Applicants with internships in industry are prioritized
  • Highly desired but not required: sterile cell culture experience
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work in fast paced environments and make contributions to multiple projects
  • Attention to detail, self-motivation, and creative thinking will be essential
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to contribute to a team
