Job Description
Biopharmaceutical Contract Manufacturing Organization, based in Alachua, FL has an immediate need for Upstream Process Development Scientists to support the development and technology transfer of mammalian cell culture processes. We are seeking candidates with hands-on cell culture process development experience for several roles at levels ranging from Research Associate I to Senior Scientist to be determined based on candidate experience and education.
The Cell Culture Process Development Scientist will be responsible for development and execution of experiments to explore and optimize all aspects of upstream bioprocesses including media/feed strategies, bioreactor process design, seed train development, data analysis, reporting, and recommending paths forward to senior management.
Preferred Experience (may vary based on level)
- Experience in mammalian cell culture process development including experimental design, process scale-up, and technology transfer
- Experience and working knowledge of biopharmaceutical manufacturing operations including GMP
- Experience working with common cell culture equipment including automated cell counters, bench scale bioreactor systems, incubators, metabolite analyzers, automated microbioreactor systems, and microscopes.
- Working knowledge of common cell culture techniques including cell passaging, transfection, scale-up, bioreactor control strategy, cell counting, metabolite analysis, and cell bank generation is strongly desired.
- Analysis of data, presenting results to internal and external stakeholders, and recommendations on path forward
Requirements
- Research Associate I
- BS degree in microbiology, biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, chemistry, or related field and 0-3 years of experience in laboratory sciences/biotech/biopharma.
- Research Associate II
- BS degree in microbiology, biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, chemistry, or related field and 4+ years of experience in laboratory sciences/biotech/biopharma.
- Scientist
- PhD and 0 years’ experience or MS and 2+ years’ experience or BS and 5+ years’ experience in laboratory sciences/biotech/biopharma.
- Extensive experience with experimental design, data analysis, organization and presentation of complex scientific data.
- Senior Scientist
- PhD and a minimum of 3 years’ experience or MS and a minimum of 6 years’ experience in laboratory sciences/biotech/biopharma.
- Extensive experience with experimental design, data analysis, organization and presentation of complex scientific data.
- Ability to lead, manage, and motivate a diverse team across various functions.
