Job Description

Assistant Financial Controller

Based: New York - remote working
Term: Permanent, Full time
Salary: Negotiable + Excellent benefits

The Role:

The Assistant Financial Controller will be a hands-on individual that will be responsible for the preparation of financial reporting, overseeing various finance functions, implementing/improving processes, and have a solid understanding of tax and compliance.

They will be a self-starter who is able to bring ideas to the table and see projects through from start to finish.

They will be a team player and support the Financial Controller with ad hoc analysis to support business trends.

Essential functions and major responsibilities:

  • Monthly management reporting delivered accurately and on time
  • Account reconciliations and analysis.
  • Assisting with audits
  • Support for tax compliance and filings
  • Support for forecasting and budgeting, including variance analysis and deep dives into operational and financial issues as needed

Management Reporting:

  • Preparation of monthly financial reports for Boards/Management teams, including preparation of ledger reconciliations, journals, accruals, prepayments, and variance analysis
  • Support preparation of monthly results and commentary to Group Finance on a timely basis
  • Supporting management team for any ad hoc analysis

Accounting/Finance:

  • Effective, efficient, and well controlled A/P and A/R processing, including reconciliations.
  • Hands on monthly financial close including accruals, revenue cut off testing, and COGs.
  • Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analysing account information.
  • Preparation of cashflow forecasts
  • Assist in annual budget and quarterly forecasting process.
  • Management of Stock/COG and working with Operations team.
  • Maintains financial security by following Group internal control procedures
  • Efficient and timely reconciliation of intercompany transactions on a monthly basis
  • Look for opportunities for process and control improvement particularly regarding the use of technology and automation

Audits and tax compliance:

  • Work with Group finance and auditors to deliver timely resolution of queries
  • Support preparation of tax computations and filings working with Controller, Group tax accountant and external tax preparer
  • Compliance with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.

Business Partnering:

  • Support preparation of commercial forecasts and budgets
  • Support for financial assessment of investment and business change project, including return on investment metrics in place

About you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • Minimum 5-10 years’ experience in accounting/finance
  • NetSuite experience or other similar ERP
  • Strong General Accounting skills and GAAP knowledge. IFRS a plus
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills, with a track record of process improvement
  • Strong ability to prioritize workload and perform multiple tasks under short closing deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written), the ability to interact with all levels through the organization and be able to exchange information efficiently and accurately.
  • Experience of working in a multinational listed company operating in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong excel and data organization/reporting skills
  • High attention to detail

Job Conditions and Benefits:
