Brooks Internship Program:
Brooks Running hosts summer internships at our Seattle HQ offices to provide hands-on, meaningful work experience to further enhance your education and professional aptitude. Our interns gain exposure to real work, and projects while working side by side with Brooks employees and leadership. If chosen for this role, you will join a cohort of interns at Brooks and embark on a summer of learning, professional development, and exposure to the Brooks brand and culture. Internship Details:
Duration: 3 monthsDates: June - August/September 2023Location: Seattle, HQSchedule: 40 hours / weekThis Opportunity:
Our Color amp; Trend Team and Specialty Concept Footwear Design Team is seeking a design intern to work at our Seattle, HQ offices. This position will work closely with the Footwear design team, Footwear Development team and Footwear Merchandising teams.Through this opportunity you will help research trend and assist in creating meaningful color palettes, concepts and storytelling that emulates the runner and Brooks as a brand.You will gain exposure to the process of footwear design by collaborating with the Footwear design team, Development team and Merchandising teams.You will gain exposure to the process of trend forecasting and concept building under provided briefs.Project involvement will be assisting the Color and Trend team in building inline seasonal color palettes, building Color CADs and researching color, material and finishes under the seasonal lens. Project involvement will also include work on our Merchandising Running Assortment packs and building concepts focused around graphic and color trends.Your Impact (Responsibilities):
  • Help create mood boards for specialty concepts and color trends
  • Assist Color amp; Trend team with building library/boards of color palettes and material examples.
  • Assist in research for material, color and finishes ideation under the seasonal lens.
  • Assist Color amp; Specialty Concepts Team with the execution of footwear color mock-ups and building color CADs.
  • Maintain calendar deadlines that result in a timely completion of each project or collection.
Project:
  • As a part of your experience as an intern at Brooks, you will have the opportunity to complete a project under the support and supervision of your manager. Details of your project will be finalized once you arrive at Brooks based on your interests, and the needs of the business. You will present your work and findings to leadership at Brooks at the end of your internship, to hone in on your research, recommendation, and presentation skills.
Skills Qualifications:
  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in industrial, graphics, apparel or footwear designor arelated field
  • Willing to commit to the intern position for three months onsite in Seattle, WA
  • Willingness to learn and gain hands-on experience
  • Able to commit to up to 40 hours a week. The teams are hybrid, so time will be spent in office at HQ as well as remote.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, demonstrating effective listening through concise, clearverbal and written communication.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in Adobe suite, specifically Illustrator.
  • Graphic and pattern design skills a plus
  • Competent using Mac operating system.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Detail-oriented with an emphasis on quality work products.
  • Must be able to collaborate in a team-oriented environment.
