Compensation: $35-42/hour

Benefits: No Benefits

Travel/Location: Travel and extended deployment to client site required

Summary

Our mission is to provide compassionate consulting services to local, state, federal and industry clients, active in disaster response, recovery, and preparedness. We will be on time, on target, and on budget with the services aligned to the evolving threats and hazards facing our nation.

Be part of a team of knowledgeable, compassionate, and helpful allies for our clients. This position will support the Emergency Operations Center as a section Chief. The Operations Section Chief will play a critical role overseeing all activities and personnel directly involved with the disaster response.

Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities

  • Assist on portions of projects and ensure all aspects are completed as outlined in the contract scope of work and timeline.
  • Attend meetings and conference calls with clients.
  • Maintain currency of and compliance with applicable state and federal policies, procedures, and guidance documents for applicable roles.
  • Manage all operational response directly applicable to the incident.
  • Manage all incident tactical activities and supervise organization elements in accordance with the Incident Action Plan (IAP).
  • Direct execution of IAP
  • Oversee, coordinate, and manage operations for specified needs at the Emergency Operations Center (EOC).
  • Communicate with the following: other section chiefs, outside agencies operating within your boundaries, surrounding jurisdictions and agencies.
  • Make sure agency leadership and all ICS Section Chiefs have a clear understanding of what is going on in the field and what type of support you may need.
  • Ensure the decisions of agency leadership are translated into action and manage and coordinate those efforts with all responders.
  • By the end of the operation be prepared to explain status of field operations and make recommendations and projections.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of a transition plan based on escalating incident complexity
  • Supervises the development of Operations Section related contingency plans for the incident.
  • Works with the Logistics Section to define support needs.
  • Manages all operations and progress related to the incident.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive customer and internal information.
  • Capable of multi-tasking when necessary.
  • Strong familiarity with state and local governments is necessary.
  • Excellent critical thinking, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly organized, detail oriented and self-motivated.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Strong desire to help people.
  • Ability to be flexible and make quick decisions as disasters change and develop.
Experience and Education Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in emergency management, public safety, or a related field.
  • Completed NQS Type III Operations Section Chief PTB or equivalent experience documentation
  • 5 or more years professional experience in emergency management.
  • Experience working in an Emergency Operations Center.
  • Experience and knowledge of working within the Incident Command Framework at state or federal levels.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in emergency management or a related field.
  • Capable of critical decision-making in a highly charged and dynamic environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365, particularly Excel.
Experience and Education Preferred
  • Applicable Certifications:
    • Certified Emergency Manager (CEM)
    • International Associate of Emergency Managers certification
  • Proficient with Salesforce.
  • Proficient with Web EOC
  • ICS position-specific certification preferred.
Expected Hours of Work

Schedule may vary and require work on evenings and weekends and dependability and punctuality are paramount.

Travel Requirements

Deployment to client sites for extended periods of time is required.

Physical Demands
  • Mobility required on-site with clients.
  • Sitting or standing for hours at a time.
  • Ability to work at a computer for prolonged periods of time as needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. repetitively throughout the day and as needed.
