Principal Software Engineer - Backend

Job Description
The chosen Principal Software Engineer will report to an Engineering Manager and will work alongside a team of curious, passionate people that handle our AI-powered coaching platform (we call it: Cultivate). In this role, you will also work closely with engineers across the Tech Department and business stakeholders in various departments when designing and developing technical solutions.

Areas of impact include:
- Backend software development
- Python microservices
- SAAS data infrastructure
- Building and scaling a data pipeline
Additional activities include:
- Participating in technical discussions
- Conducting code reviews
- Producing solution documentation
- Gathering stakeholder requirements
- Defining and implementing best practices
- Understanding business objectives, processes, and products
- Delivering technical solutions for those objectives
Essential Duties:
- Hands-on development of software engineering solutions
- Implementing software and data architectural design
- Building APIs/Resolvers
- Translating Business objectives and Product vision into technical solutions
- Collaboration and communication with internal/external stakeholders
Requirements
The ideal person will have 6+ years of experience in:
- Software Development (Python)
- Building web-based APIs
- SQL (we currently operate this AI-powered coaching platform on PostgreSQL)
- Cloud infrastructure (people with scalability experience are ideal)
- Gathering and defining requirements
- Collaborating with internal/external stakeholders when helping to scale a system
Bonus points for experience in or familiarity with:
- Snowflake
- Microservice design patterns
- GraphQL
- DevOps amp; CI/CD (understanding this concept, not actually doing this work works fine for us)
