Job Purpose: The Principal DevOps Engineer will partner with other leads in the organization across cross functional teams to ensure our infrastructure as code is in line with our business priorities. You will manage DevOps infrastructure projects and processes. Keen attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and solid knowledge base are essential. This role will be responsible for infrastructure development, configuration management, and deployment SDLC pipeline for applications and systems. As a Principal DevOps Engineer, you will also be responsible for improving security and performance measures.


What You Will Do:
  • Design, Implement and Maintain Scalable DevOps infrastructure and solutions
  • Provide direction to development teams and analysts as required to affect changes to systems/cloud relationships.
  • Provide technical leadership in all areas of DevOps technologies and provide strong knowledge of industry best practices, and industry CI/CD methodologies.
  • Responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining all aspects of the server systems infrastructure as code:
    • Building code repository automation and deployment pipelines
    • Virtual and physical server administration including daily maintenance, P2V, building VMs, patching, etc.
    • Cloud operations (AWS/Azure/GCP)
    • Participate in application releases into staging and production environments
    • Load Balancers (LTM amp; GTM)
    • CDN, DNS, MX Records, SSL Certificate Registration, Encryption Key management
    • Networking including VPC, Subnets, VPC-Peering, Transit gateway, and Datacenter BGP
    • Run our infrastructure with SaltStack, Ansible, Terraform, Helm, ArgoCD, and Rancher/Kubernete/EKS
    • Support functions in all company locations and data center co-location sites
  • Provide 24/7 on-call (on a rotation) operational level support for all aspects of the infrastructure and cloud services
  • Conduct Proof of Concepts for emerging technologies and present recommendations to design team and management
  • Participate in multi-discipline design teams to provide solutions and capacity planning of equipment and systems (on-prem and cloud)
  • Perform analytical, technical, and administrative work in the planning, design, installation, documentation, and administration of data center and cloud systems
  • Investigate, understand, maintain and update DevOps tools and improve on tooling, infrastructure, and capabilities
  • Debug production issues across services and levels of the stack
  • Lead, and coach other DevOps Engineers

    Requirements

    What You Will Bring:
    • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in in the following: DevOps
    • BS/BA in Information Technology, computer science, engineering, or relevant field preferred
    • Broad knowledge of Linux kernel
    • Deep understanding of Kubernetes with experience in deploying, managing and maintaining at scale
    • Experience working with infrastructure as Code with Ansible/SaltStack and Terraform
    • Expert in building software pipelines (CI/CD) with GitOps
    • Deep understanding of Networking, Cloud architecture, and Data Center integrations
    • Experience leading, coaching, and mentoring other engineers
    • Strong time management skills, able to work on multiple large projects concurrently
    • Communication skills: Ability to effectively communicate with team members, leaders, and customers on all levels
    • Conceptual skills: able to perform in-depth systems analysis, recognizes problems, opportunities or underlying patterns and relationships. Can analyze requirements and translate them into priorities and action plans
    • Team player: Ability and willingness to motivate and mentor other consultants, act as change agent
    • Independence and ownership: Work with a minimum of direct supervision or guidance from others
    • Willingness to work with people from diverse backgrounds and experiences
