Job Overview/Summary

The Director of Human Resources oversees the development, implementation, and coordination of all aspects of Human Resources at the San Diego and Irvine, CA site. This includes being a full member of the Site Leadership Team and being a strategic business partner to the General Manager and the various functional heads. This position will maintain an HR presence for all disciplines within HR and ensure the execution of HR for the site in the areas of employee relations, talent acquisition, talent management, and will be responsible for the rollout of corporate initiatives in all areas of HR.

This position will report directly to the CEO and have a dotted line the site General Managers.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Planning for corporate restructuring processes and act as liaison between the company and its employees during times of transition.
  • Be the strategic partner and advisor to the Site Leadership Team to drive engagement, create and sustain an outstanding and unique culture, support site goals. Identify issues and trends as well as gaps in programs and develop HR initiatives to address and improve.
  • Develop and deliver policies, procedures, plans, processes, and budgets to support recruiting, employee relations, compensation and benefits, employee development and training, organizational development, to meet site and business unit objectives.
  • Provide counsel and coaching to site leadership, managers and employees on employee relations, conflict resolution, development, and performance. Support, guide, encourage and empower employees and managers to problem solve effectively.
  • Partner with business unit leadership in the organization’s strategic planning efforts, providing insight on critical HR concerns and ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
  • Supports the Global HR Function in the reporting of KPI’s, execution of key HR processes, programs and policies across the region and business units.
  • Build credibility and trust to establish strong relationships with employees at all levels and leadership; work closely with management to provide support, guidance, and problem resolution.
  • In partnership with Talent Acquisition, plan and direct the organization’s recruitment and selection of exceptional talent with critical technical skills in a highly competitive market.
  • Lead the human resources team of personnel (e.g., HR Manager, HR Generalist, HR Coordinator, and Recruiters) including coaching, training, and development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 8-10+ years of experience as an HR professional with at least 2 years of management experience
  • Exposure to pharmaceutical development, manufacturing, or related technical industries is highly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of California employment, wage amp; hour knowledge, immigration/visa process knowledge
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the business
  • Influencer of and change agent

Preferred Qualifications

  • S/PHR or SHRM-S/CP certification is a plus

Exposure to the pharmaceutical, diagnostic or medical device industries preferred
