Job Description:

The Bridge Program at the College of Mount Saint Vincent provides opportunities for young adults with various learning abilities to grow their skills related to academic, professional, technical, independent living and socialization in an immersive college environment. The Assistant Director for Bridge Career amp; Alumni Services will assist students, parents, faculty, and staff to develop, implement, and facilitate career education. They will also maintain alumni connections.

Reporting to the Director for the Bridge Program, this is a full-time, salaried, exempt, 11-month, onsite position.

Responsibilities:

Career Services

  • Develops on-campus internship opportunities for program participants
  • Researches and develops career amp; employment resources for students
  • Gathers resources, develops connections with outside agencies, and networks with disability services providers in the areas of employment, government benefits, and education
  • Trains and provides support to on-campus supervisors and other employees
  • Collaborate with supervisors to develop reasonable accommodations amp; modifications based on individual student needs
  • Assist with explicit teaching of entry-level employment skills and appropriate workplace behaviors
  • Perform workplace skill assessments and data collection
  • Submit end of semester performance evaluations
  • Provide constructive feedback to students regarding their job performance on an ongoing basis
  • Suggest and model appropriate social interactions with coworkers, supervisors and customers/clients
  • Address workplace problems in a timely manner in order to maintain employer/intern satisfaction
  • Performs related duties as assigned

Alumni Services

  • Develops and maintains an alumni network and database
  • Plans marketing and outreach services for alumni
  • Plans, advertises, and supervises/oversees supervision of alumni activities, services, and events in collaboration with Student Life
  • Gathers, analyzes and maintains data and statistical information to evaluate effectiveness of services, and identify goals to meet student and program needs

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Education, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Vocational Rehabilitation or related field
  • Master’s preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience working with students with learning differences
  • Understanding of job markets and employer requirements for entry-level positions
