Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Director, Clinical Program Development is a critical nursing leadership role that connects AWHONN content and services to members who are actively seeking online and classroom educational offerings. The position includes collaboration in and assisting to develop strategies with focus on identifying services and content to be used to meet the clinical education needs of members and customers. This individual will connect and collaborate with external and internal stakeholders, including education, technology, and marketing, to assure successful delivery and implementation of AWHONN online and classroom clinical education programs. This position is the clinical expert and leader for the AWHONN Fetal Heart Monitoring Program. In conjunction with the Learning Development team, creates and executes strategies for continual review and enhancement of the AWHONN Fetal Heart Monitoring program and other member education offerings. Additionally, this individual serves as a nurse leader and staff liaison to AWHONN and external stakeholder committees that fall within the scope of practice and subject matter expertise.


DUTIES amp; RESPONSIBILITIES:


Fetal Heart Monitoring Program
  • Leads Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM)Program content development, revision and evaluation
  • Collaborates with the Fetal Monitoring Program Operations team to include budget management, coordination with Instructors, technical writing and editing.
  • Manages ongoing evaluation of the overall quality and integrity of all Fetal Monitoring Program content and Instructor effectiveness, including site visits for real-time instructor evaluation.
  • Leads Instructor Trainer recruitment, and provides remediation and support for Fetal Heart Monitoring instructors
  • Monitor and edits FHM products and program to ensure the maintenance of the highest integrity
Nurse Leader
  • Nurse liaison to AWHONN national committee and external stakeholder committees.
  • Demonstrates exemplary nursing leadership in all activities and responsibilities of the role.
  • Collaborate with other departments, when needed, as clinical or product specialist with Industry Sponsors.

Member Online Education

  • Collaborates with the Sr. Director of Library and Archives to ensure cataloging of existing and future online educational resources.
  • Work with necessary committees and leaders to identify, review, edit and update the content within the resource library when content changes, new programs/services are added and/or products are introduced.
  • Monitor educational content to ensure online and classroom programs maintain currency.
  • Determines and schedules revision and retirement of products as needed.
  • Ensure the resource library and applicable online components support strategic education initiatives.
  • Ensure content consistency and quality through the use of online and classroom education best practices.
  • Assist in writing, revising, and creating online and classroom learning activities and enduring educational materials in direct collaboration with subject matter experts and the online education team.

Continuing Nursing Education

As a Nurse Planner:

  • Serves as member of the AWHONN Provider Unit.
  • Leads all aspects of planning, implementation, evaluation, and record keeping of specific provider-directed, provider-paced live women’s health, obstetric, and neonatal CNE activities/products; provider-directed, learner-paced enduring women’s health, obstetric, and neonatal CNE activities/products; or blended women’s health, obstetric, and neonatal CNE activity/products.
  • Ensures implementation of all appropriate educational design principles and processes that are consistent with requirements of the ANCC primary accreditation program.
  • Upholds that women’s health, obstetric, and neonatal CNE activities/products are those that build upon the educational and experiential bases of the professional RN for the enhancement of practice, education, administration, research, or theory development, to the end of improving the health of the public and RN’s pursuit of their professional career goals.

OTHER

  • Serves as clinical liaison to identified organizations as requested.
  • Performs other duties as required
