Job Description

ATS Institute Of Technology has been successfully helping students achieve their educational goals since 1998. Accredited nationally by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES). We are currently seeking a Student Success Advisor who will be able to provide the expertise necessary to establish comprehensive student-centered services. Summary:

The advisor provides accurate, timely, and holistic advising services in support of promoting student success, retention, and program completion. This position will practice data-driven outreach, pro-active resource referral, and timely/holistic interventions to meet the needs of students including, but not limited to academics, behavior, social integration, personal struggles, self care, and/or personal development skills. The advisor will generate data and reports to help identify barriers to student satisfaction, retention, academic progression, and will engage students in decision making processes on academic matters such as course registration, plan of study, and program requirements. All efforts will support and advance school mission and strategic goals and measures, including student retention, student satisfaction and belonging, and career preparation.


Duties amp; Responsibilities:

  • Acts as liaison to atrisk students whether selfidentified or faculty/staff identified including creating programs of support.
  • Assists students in developing individual academic and personal goals.
  • Assists faculty and staff in identifying trends, researching best practices, and initiating interventions to improve student success, persistence, and completion. Monitors effectiveness of initiatives.
  • Creates, disseminates and collects student surveys aimed at providing feedback on program and/or students' needs and satisfaction.
  • Meet with Freshmen students to assist with initial adjustment to college academic life. Special sessions should be scheduled throughout the first semester.
  • Monitor progress toward educational goals and meet with your students at least once each semester to review the progress toward completing the academic program and to discuss grades and other performance indicators.
  • Initiate meetings and/or follow-up with the student on any report of unsatisfactory work (notice of academic monitoring for poor attendance, notice of failing grades, behavioral issues, faculty performance concerns, etc.) to facilitate appropriate interventions by helping students navigate the technological, mental and emotional hurdles keeping them from engaging in their classes.
  • Responsible to monitor student attendance and advise students on attendance issues. Special attention should be paid to students who are placed on academic monitoring.
  • Approve all designated educational transactions (e.g., registration schedule, drops/adds, withdrawals, program and graduation requirements, etc.).
  • Collects necessary placement data for regulatory bodies.
  • Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored by the College.
  • Activities may include: facilitation of small groups; structured, short-term, student onboarding and orientation; goal-oriented individual coaching sessions; facilitation of conferences with students, teachers, and administration; consultation with teachers and administration regarding the developmental needs of students; support during crisis or emergency situations.

Requirements

  • Education: Master's Degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or Higher Education administration, student affairs, or related area
  • Experience: 3+ years related experience in academic affairs, student affairs, or student success-related areas in a higher education environment
