Encodia is a rapidly growing platform company that is developing a new generation of protein analysis tools based on single-molecule protein sequencing. Our goal is to make protein sequencing easy and ubiquitous by using a novel reverse-translation technology that turns peptide sequences into DNA. The DNA can be read by a DNA sequencer, providing a path to breakthrough proteomics research at a scale that is not practical or cost-effective using current technologies.

We are seeking to recruit an IT Manager with Systems Administration experience to help support Encodia’s IT infrastructure. This includes device and network management, SaaS systems management, IT policy development, technology evaluation and selection, IT vendor management, and IT project management. You will be in charge of administering our current systems, supporting our compute cluster, as well as building processes to support our various IT needs for an expanding organization.

IT Manager Responsibilities (75%)

• Management of all enterprise workstations/laptops, network devices and servers. This will include cloud based and virtual machines.
• Management and resolution for all IT tickets
• Assess company IT baseline and develop future roadmap goals
• Monitor IT project priorities, schedules, timelines and deliverables
• Establish IT policies and enforce adherence
• Establish performance metrics for IT
• Manage MSP’s to achieve goals of the IT department
• As needed, responsible for IT adherence to financial or customer cybersecurity policies

Systems Administration Responsibilities (25%)

• Experience with managing Linux systems and LANs
• Experience implementing network security best practices
• Experience with laptop fleet management systems such as Fleetsmith
• Programming experience in Python / bash scripting.
• Experience using and configuring cloud-based computing environments (e.g., AWS/Azure).
• Experience with SLURM computing cluster management
• Experience automating system deployment and configuration with tools like Ansible
• Experience with containerization tools such as docker and singularity
• Knowledge of git or other version control systems.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work with and support multiple groups across the organization.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology or computer science preferred.
• 7+ years of proven IT management experience (3 in a startup environment)
• Proven work experience as a technical support engineer.
• Good time management skills, interpersonal skills, communication and presentation skills
• Ability to troubleshoot complex hardware and software issues.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrates customer focused service
• Extensive experience working with Google Workplace, windows OS, Linux and Cisco Merkai
• Ability to prioritize and manage several milestones and projects efficiently
