Job Description

A large Tier-1 automotive client in the Midwest is looking for a Supplier Quality Engineer to join their quality team. The purpose of this role is to manage and develop suppliers to ensure that there is a consistent supply of high-quality components moving through the supply chain and you’ll be working alongside a team of supplier quality engineers under the direction of the Plant Quality Manager. This role is critical to meeting objectives to meet amp; improve Launch Performance and Current production parts Quality.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to Supplier Launch Performance Manual for new programs through completing APQP (Advanced Part Quality Planning) phases that lead to flawless Quality (PPAP Production Part Approval Process), Capacity Planning and Verification. Escalate red issues and SOP plan to appropriate management. Ensure compliance to On-site review cadence of cross-functional teams based on priority levels. Complete PPAPs on time.
  • Drive robust problem-solving process for Supplier Quality issues related to PRR’s, Stop Shipment/build, Field Service Actions, Read Across Best Practices into Commodity Control Plans.
  • Support on-site Supplier’s Process capacity issues resolution ensure a production plan exists to meet requirements and manage SOP plan.
  • Conduct supplier visits and audits to support sourcing through appropriate forums.
  • Lead cross-functional team during technical reviews and respective deliverable sign off.
  • Support Implementation of VAVE activities to achieve cost reduction targets.
  • Support on-site Supplier emerging issues (Quality, manufacturing, delivery, etc.).
  • Engage with critical suppliers and address systemic Quality, capacity, and manufacturing issues.
  • Engage amp; participate on DEI initiatives.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science/ Engineering, or academic equivalent
  • Metallurgist/Metallurgical or CNC machining background/knowledge preferred
  • Knowledge of manufacturing process(es)
  • Understands interpretation and application of global quality standards (ISO 9001 amp; IATF 19649, and VDA 6.3)
  • Understands GDamp;T
