Job Description

The WWTPO should perform a wide variety of tasks to ensure wastewater is safely converted into a form that can ither be recycle into the plating processes or discharge. The operator uses, equipment, instruments, and control boards to operate, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and monitor wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) and its related processes. Operator will perform all work in conformance to OSHA, EPA and DOT regulations and guidelines.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform all aspects of treating, monitoring, and testing of the WWTP
  • Basic wastewater treatment, Ion exchange and Reverse osmosis to maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulations governing the wastewater treatment processes and waste processes.
  • Perform regular inspections, maintenance of physical plant, pump stations, sump pumps, water lines, wastewater lines, holding tanks, reaction tanks, scrubber systems, and any other equipment related to the WWTP operations. Also, maintain surveillance on operating conditions, gauges, and meters to ensure continued efficient operation as well as detect malfunctions.
  • Maintain clean and organized WWTP and related areas.
  • Keep inventory of the chemicals and accessories used in the WWTP and related activities to maintain enough supply to run the WWTP and related activities properly.
  • Collect waste material generated from WWTP, plating and the general repair station.
  • Organize and Store waste material in the dedicated area for waste and follow the OSHA and EPA regulations and guidelines to storage hazardous waste.
  • Assist plating with the chemical storage room and additions.
  • Assist EHamp;S with shipping and receiving of chemicals and wastes.
  • Assist EHamp;S and / or plating in other assignments related to safety and environmental activities.
  • Complete and maintain all documents, forms, logs, and records use for the WWTP processes, and related waste processes.
  • Record and track WWTP and related equipment operational data
  • (Meter, gauges) and inspect frequently for maintenance and upgrades to prevent system breakdowns.
  • Must use proper PPE and equipment to perform all work in conformance to OSHA, EPA and DOT regulations and guidelines.
  • Notify to the EHamp;S and/or plating management any unusual or special situation that involve OSHA, EPA and DOT regulations and guidelines.
  • Communicate with EHamp;S and /or plating management any issue that is affecting or will affect the proper operation of the WWTP and its related activities.
  • Assist the Quality Assurance department with waste reporting and required documentation for EHamp;S purposes.
  • Training and Experience:
  • High School diploma, preferred AA or higher
  • Basic understanding of chemicals and chemical compatibility
  • Experience related to wastewater or environmental disciplines
  • Osha certifications, preferred
  • Occasional weekend or off-shift hours
  • Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and quality procedures.
  • Understanding of internal and external customer requirements with a high attention to detail in resolving findings.
  • Good organizational skills
  • Must have experience in operating a wastewater treatment facility.
  • Familiar with hazardous materials and waste processes
  • Physical requirements:
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds
  • Able to wear necessary PPE for long hours.
  • Performs general maintenance and housekeeping of workplace, tools, and equipment.
