Job Description

Gencove is a rapidly-growing startup developing a genome sequencing and analytics platform to enable the next generation of genomics applications in medicine and agriculture. We have customers across the world, including leading genomics companies like BGI, universities like Stanford and the Weizmann Institute, and top pharmaceutical companies. We are looking for an experienced VP of Sales to join us to drive commercial adoption.

Reporting directly to Gencove’s CEO, you will be responsible for hiring and managing Gencove's sales team; building partnerships that drive company growth; evaluating sales strategies and tactics in a rapidly-changing environment; and working with the executive team to identify new business opportunities for Gencove’s low-pass sequencing platform.

Requirements

About you:

  • Experience hiring and managing a sales team at B2B software or software-enabled service businesses
  • Experience selling to pharmaceutical and/or biotech companies
  • Experience working as part of an early-stage, venture-backed startup: you’re ready to build a new sales playbooks if needed, get on initial customer calls to ask discovery questions, get creative in reaching target markets, and overall roll up your sleeves and do what it takes to make the organization successful.
  • Familiar with the key companies and technologies used in genomics.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and other tools for forecasting sales performance.
  • Excellent communication/presentation skills and ability to build relationships
  • Enthusiastic and passionate

Responsibilities

  • Own the bookings target for the company, and build the team and budget needed to hit the target.
  • Develop and structure partnerships that advance commercial adoption of the Gencove platform
  • Work with Marketing and Product teams to rapidly provide customer feedback on potential new messaging or product features
  • Organize and structure on-site visits with high-value prospects and customers to identify and execute on new business opportunities
  • Participate in analysis of market trends, customer requirements, and competitive strategy, and in the identification of opportunities for increasing customer and business value through product differentiation
