The Market Development Manager is responsible for leading the success of our most valuable asset: our staff and volunteers. In this function, the position will support our Community Engagement Board and Event Support Specialist recruitment, program development, onboarding experiences, training and establishing these constituencies as integral to our organizational success. Furthermore, this role will serve our locations through the recruitment, onboarding and learning support for our full time positions. The Market Development Manager will assist Community Engagement Leadership with engagement learning and driving department-wide improvement in our core values. The position will also support meal packaging operations through facilitating meal packaging events throughout the year.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

70% Market Development

• Develops and implements strategy for new business growth, including expansion markets in targeted geographies.
• Identifies and cultivates leads, securing lists of prospective partners, cold calling, and executing moves management.
• Converts prospective partner organizations into engaged donor volunteers.
• Executes activities to identify, cultivate, and solicit organizational donors at the $3,500 level or higher, with an emphasis on maximizing revenue for Rise Against Hunger.
• Personally solicits donors through face to face visits, including preparation of personalized materials.
• Updates account and donor records in Salesforce.com following donor contacts.
• Manages a portfolio of donors and prospects with intent to form deep relationships.
• Works with Community Engagement Managers, local Community Engagement Board members and other leadership volunteers to steward appropriate donors.
• Develops ongoing relationships with a small pool of organizational donors to meet annual fundraising goals.

30% Meal Packing Experience Facilitation

• Facilitate and/or support a minimum of 2 events each month.
• Lead, and speak in front of large groups of volunteers creating a fun and impactful experience. Presentation skills are a must.
• Drive a large box truck (up to 26 ft). Move pallets and lift 50 lb bags of rice so that we can package our meals for those we serve. Our work environment is often not climate controlled, and could be in a warehouse, board room, hotel ballroom, school cafeteria, or the back of a box truck on a hot summer day.

About the Team

Our Community Engagement team leads the charge of recruiting groups who want to host an engaging meal packing experience for their members or employees. We are a team of volunteer coordinators, fundraising and donor relationship professionals with the collective goal of ending world hunger through the communities where we live. We operate a face-paced mission-driven volunteer and donor engagement program with events for businesses, faith-based organizations, and educational institutions. We act as leaders in the movement to end hunger.
