JOB DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a Technical Support Artist to join our team of 3D artists to expand the team’s production reach and assist in the day-to-day content integration. The Technical Support Artist will be responsible for the integration of beautiful, real-time, 3D aircraft models, and assisting the team with tools, feature development, and troubleshooting technical issues.
The ideal candidate must possess a strong knowledge of 3DSMax and Perforce, and must be comfortable writing XML code. They must also know how to problem solve issues that arise in the use of these tools internally and client facing in a timely and efficient manner. Their ability to communicate with artists and interpret the issue to find solutions will be key to their success. This role is 100% remote.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create or modify XML files to link art content with engine functionality to give the aircraft life.
- Write tools and create pipeline processes that facilitate fast and effective asset creation while staying within the technical and artistic limitations of the game engine and 3D package.
- Troubleshoot technical errors that arise during content integration by reviewing errors and logs in the SDK and 3D packages.
- Improve the team tools, technical processes, and best practices for content creation to help the team function smoothly and efficiently.
- Create technical documentation that clearly communicates tool functionality and technical processes such as file export settings, requirements, and common errors.
- Communicate technical issues between internal and external teams, and provide solutions to relieve blockers and bottlenecks.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Creative problem-solving skills with a strong ability to learn new areas of development.
- Comfortable working in 3D Max with models, rigs, and animations.
- Ability to create/parse XML files used to link content with game engine functionality.
- Communicate clearly when giving technical feedback, suggestions, and support.
- Work well with a team of diverse cultures and backgrounds.
- Comfortable and experienced working in Perforce.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
