Upper School Science Support Teacher, Full-Time

Job Description
With world-class science teachers and labs, Burke’s seeks a Science Support Teacher who can inspire a passion for studying science in middle school students. By collaborating with and being mentored by the Lead Science Teachers from grades 5-8, student-centered, inquiry-based lessons, labs, and projects should be implemented by modeling best practices in teaching. We welcome candidates who hold, or are working toward, a teaching credential or master’s degree and possess a commitment to girls’ education. This position is a two-year position.
Job Responsibilities include:
- Assist in planning, set up, supervision, clean up, and assessment of lab activities and projects
- Research appropriate technology tools and resources for instruction
- Collaboration:
- With Lead Teachers to continue updating materials, resources, and technology
- To plan, prepare, present and facilitate lessons in grades 5-8
- To assess student progress using rubrics
- By participating in regular science team meetings as well as attending faculty meetings and other professional work
- Communication:
- Effective communication with colleagues in support of a collegial and collaborative professional community
- Timely and supportive communication with students, parents, and caregivers to foster a strong partnership with families
- Supervisory duties as needed recess, lunch, field trips, carpool, and outdoor education trips as well as other duties consistent with the above responsibilities

- Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent, preferably science-related
- Previous teaching experience desired

Compensation
