Assistant Controller, North American Finance

New York Based- Hybrid Work Structure

The Role:
BCW is seeking an Assistant Controller to join the North America Headquarters Finance team. The position will work closely the North America Headquarters Controller and Chief Financial Officer. This person will also be working and communicating with local Finance Directors around North America and the WWHQ finance group. We are looking for someone highly motivated with strong organizational and communication skills.

The Work:

  • Prepare balance sheet and Pamp;L analysis schedules for the North America Headquarters reporting unit.
  • Support markets with the preparation of monthly balance sheet analytics and templates.
  • Review monthly, quarterly, and yearly Pamp;L, balance sheet, and analysis schedules for North America Markets
  • Verify the accuracy of financial data reported by local markets.
  • Manage monthly close activities. This includes General Ledger analysis and recording monthly journal entries.
  • Assist local market Finance Directors with general accounting enquiries.
  • Advise markets on general ledger and sub ledger system operations.
  • Complete monthly account reconciliations for balance sheet and profit and loss accounts
  • Develop processes and policies to uphold and bolster internal controls
  • Counsel Finance Directors with internal and external audit planning and preparation.
  • Approve IFRS 16 lease accounting applications and modifications.
  • Will play a major role in the region’s SOX programs for both local markets and NAHQ. Assist on all audits as needed.
  • Key contact for unclaimed property auditors and work with the WPP tax group as needed on other projects.
  • Develop processes to assist in the region’s NWC reporting.
  • Be the regional representative for the on-going Maconomy upgrade.
  • Special projects and ad hoc requests as required.


Experience That Contributes to Your Success:

  • Bachelors or Master degree in Accounting or finance; CPA a plus.
  • 5-7 years of experience in accounting/ finance
  • Strong financial accounting skills.
  • Advanced expertise in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Technically competent with accounting and internal control systems.
  • Solid oral and written communication capabilities.
  • Forward thinking outlook to meet goals and improve results.
  • Willingness to work independently or as a team to meet or exceed deadlines.
  • Experience with the following accounting and reporting systems a plus (Maconomy, SAP BFC, Hyperion, etc.)
