Job Description

We’re looking for a new Head of Fulfillment, Distribution, and Logistics. This role reports directly to our COO and is accountable for key pieces of the Pamp;L and operations of the business including: (1) fulfillment (2 million orders per year) (2) outbound shipping (3) international inbound freight (4) physical inventory management. This person must be excellent with both high level strategy and execution of in-the-weeds people management.

Responsibilities

Here’s what the day-to-day looks like:

  • Accountable for all elements of monthly operational performance and budget. These include:
    • Distribution center cost as a % of revenue
    • Outbound shipping cost as a % of revenue
    • Inbound freight coordination, costs and timing
    • All fulfillment completed within 24 hours of order receipt
    • Returns processing
    • Physical inventory management
    • Packaging supplies and materials management
  • Lead the Shinesty distribution center including all elements of labor management, budgeting, process, information systems, network, security, safety, equipment, supplies, D2C packaging materials, and B2B. NOTE: you will need to be hands on learning/managing, and therefore must be intimately familiar with forecasting labor needs and building trust and respect as a leader
  • Hire and mentor team members over time that can each individually drive standout performance in key areas
  • Report key metrics to executive team on a weekly basis
  • Constantly identify issues and opportunities to improve efficiency
  • Resolve any arising problems or complaints
  • Manages all logistics process and procedures
  • Oversee analytics and attribution tools to track performance over time. You will be expected to independently identify issues and opportunities, then adjust as needed. You will also be responsible for maintaining the accuracy and usability of decision making tools, reports and dashboards
  • Ensure all team members and processes are scalable with the needs of the business - you will regularly break down and build functions back up for additional phases of growth
  • Manage, update, and select carriers for all aspects of transportation (D2C, reverse logistics, import, freight) and negotiate rates and contracts with carriers

Requirements

  • A sense of humor
  • 10+ years of hands-on operational experience scaling and driving efficiencies at distribution amp; fulfillment operations including:
    • Labor management at facility w/ over 30 employees
    • Budget creation and reporting
    • Inventory management
    • LEAN principles
    • Shipping carrier management amp; negotiations
    • Freight experience
    • OSHA compliance
  • Direct management of a 7-figure annual budget
  • Has built teams, managed, mentored, hired and fired to create an effective team
  • ERP amp; WMS Experience - must have experience with and be comfortable using high tech software
  • Working knowledge of US Customs regulations
  • Ability to hire, train, motivate, and retain an A-level team
  • Intimate knowledge with Excel and analytics tools (preferably PowerBI or Looker). Major bonus points for advanced analytics capabilities in SQL or Html
  • Willingness and ability to be a leader in the boardroom but also someone who gets their hands dirty to execute daily responsibilities when needed
