Job Description

Frontier Medicines is seeking an experienced Project Team Leader (PTL), to drive early-to-late-stage drug discovery programs. The successful candidate will have a track record of leading project teams and delivery of development candidates with expertise in disease biology and pharmacology.

We are looking for someone with extensive experience in biological science, taking projects from early stage through to development. The Project Team Leader will lead interdisciplinary teams, define project strategy, enable efficient decision making and work effectively with leadership to project delivery. In addition, the candidate will provide guidance on pharmacology strategy, clinical indications of interest, and other aspects of drug development. The incumbent will work effectively with a cross functional teams including computational and medicinal chemists, biologists, cheminformaticians, CROs, and program managers.

Requirements

What will you be doing?

  • Leading preclinical project teams, setting project strategy, ensuring project team effectiveness and delivering projects objects on time and within budget.
  • Lead and collaborate with preclinical project teams to design, implement, and analyze in vitro and in vivo pharmacology studies up to IND filing.
  • Oversee the design and execution of quantitative pathway- and disease-relevant assays across diverse target classes and therapeutic areas internally and through CRO partners.
  • Contribute to the discovery, preclinical pharmacology, and translational development plans, including defining key milestones and decision points and timelines, identifying risks and mitigation strategies, study planning and execution, selection of therapeutic indications, and IND filings.
  • Communicate progress to internal stakeholders, KOLs and SAB.
  • Help build a culture of scientific excellence, integrity and urgency that encourages innovative thinking and bold new ideas.
  • Provide strategic and technical leadership to the teams supporting drug discovery projects from target discovery through IND-enabling studies.
  • This role requires excellent communication skills, in-depth knowledge of preclinical pharmacology (biochemical and cellular assays, target engagement, PKPD relationships) and ability to design translational studies to support future clinical activities.


What We’re Looking For

  • Ph.D. in Pharmacology or related biological science.
  • 10+ years direct hands-on experience in drug discovery and development leveraging disease models in biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries.
  • Direct experimental experience with pharmacology models or disease biology and demonstrated expertise in PK/PD, efficacy, and cell and tissue-based pharmacology.
  • Experience leading project teams (PTL) with functional responsibility to analyze, interpret, and present data.
  • Experience authoring in vivo study protocols, reports, and/or regulatory documents (including IND filings).
  • Ability to effectively lead and motivate a team of talented lab-based Ph.D. and non-Ph.D. scientists.
