Job Description

Encodia is looking for a highly skilled and motivated database expert to join our Business Operations team. As the go-to person for all things database-related, you will be responsible for driving business initiatives that involve both front-end and back-end database solutions. Your responsibilities will include the full spectrum of database engineering, from architecture and implementation to maintenance, troubleshooting, automation, and creating front-end query interfaces and real-time visualizations. The ideal candidate will have end-to-end ownership of projects, from gathering user requirements to delivering the final product. To be successful, you will need to have a proven track record of driving database development and maintenance programs, and be able to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment to meet the needs of our organization and stakeholders.

Requirements

Your Responsibilities

  • Building and maintaining internal queryable database infrastructure: Your main responsibility will be to develop and maintain a database infrastructure that can adapt to a rapidly changing data environment. This includes ensuring high performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams: You will work with cross-functional teams to identify and implement database-related solutions that align with business requirements.
  • Creating database schemas and structures: You will be responsible for creating database documentation, data models, data dictionaries, and technical specifications that optimize data access and retrieval.
  • Developing and maintaining ETL processes: You will be responsible for developing and maintaining Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes that ensure data accuracy and consistency across multiple systems.
  • Identifying and implementing process improvements: You will need to identify and implement process improvements to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the database infrastructure.
  • Monitoring database performance: You will be responsible for monitoring database performance and identifying areas for improvement, such as optimizing queries and indexing strategies.
  • Providing technical expertise and support: You will need to provide technical expertise and support to other teams within the organization as needed.
  • Creating and maintaining real-time dashboards and visualizations: You will create and maintain real-time dashboards and visualizations using various tools such as Tableau and Power BI to provide business insights to stakeholders.

What You Bring to This Role

  • At least 5 years of experience in database management, with a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of both relational and non-relational databases, as well as database management systems.
  • Relevant experience in building and maintaining large-scale data processing systems and connecting to various data sources.
  • Extensive experience in database development and management, including advanced knowledge of various SQL/NonSQL Server technologies for complex database systems.
  • Strong understanding of relational/non-relational database modeling and the ability to quickly grasp complex database structures.
  • Proficiency in writing queries and developing stored procedures and functions.
  • Ability to migrate data with complex rules and handle large volumes of data.
  • Skilled in identifying and solving performance issues related to the database for application development.
  • Knowledgeable in designing database structures that conform to industry standards and best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot database-related issues in a timely manner.
  • Team player with a service-minded attitude
  • Previous experience building real-time data analytics and visualization as outputs from the database.
  • Strong communication skills are required

Compensation: $117,500 - $182,000/year. While compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
