position purpose:
- The Inns of Aurora Resort and Spa is seeking a Pool Operations Specialist who will work primarily at the Spa. The ideal candidate will have a passion and commitment to maintain the Spa to the world class standards, as defined by The Inns of Aurora.
- Under the direction of the Buildings and Grounds Manager, the Facilities-Spa Pools Technician oversees, executes, and is responsible for the care and maintenance of the facilities throughout the Inns of Aurora Resort and Spa.
responsibilities/duties/functions/tasks:
- Perform all aspects of pool maintenance including daily pool water testing amp; treatment
- Shift requires working at least one weekend day amp; one evening shift per week.
- Successful candidate will be the Certified Pool Operator on record, and is responsible for maintaining compliance with state and county health department requirements.
- Submit monthly reports to Cayuga County Health Department
- Evaluate and execute work assignment through proper use of tools, equipment and chemical applications.
- Maintain building systems and conduct repairs when necessary
- Verify that equipment is in safe and proper operating condition
- Assist outside vendors when necessary to ensure timely, effective service and repairs
- Assist all members within the facilities and grounds department in areas of carpentry, painting, building repairs, snow removal and moving.
- Perform other duties, as assigned
Requirements
special position requirements:
- Proven record of observing legal and defensive driving practices, as verified by the NYS Lens Program.
- Desire amp; ability to start early, work with liquid amp; dry chemicals, and stay up to date with Cayuga County Pool Operation regulations
qualifications:
- Knowledge of general maintenance processes and methods
- Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic and other systems
- Basic knowledge of plumbing systems including copper, iron, pvc, and cpvc
- Ability to operate hand tools, power tools and other assigned equipment
- Ability to work independently or in a team setting with internal staff as well as outside vendors
- Working knowledge of safe work practices, methods and procedures
- Ability to communicate effectively with others
- Always displays professional and friendly work ethic and demeanor
- Previous customer service experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, and general computer literacy
- Flexibility in scheduling, including night and weekend availability
preferences:
- Special preference for Certified Pool Operator; Paid training required if not currently Certified.
- Five years of general maintenance experience
- Graduation from standard high school or G.E.D. equivalent with trade and vocational school courses completed
- Certification in trade (electrical, HVAC, plumbing, related)
