The Garnishment Specialist position is responsible for collecting, reviewing, and analyzing payroll information to effectively administer involuntary deductions from pay, such as court-ordered wage garnishments, student loans, wage assignments, child support, bankruptcy orders, state and federal tax levies on time. This position also ensures that payroll deductions reports are run in compliance with relevant regulations and laws and works collaboratively with all departments, including Payroll, Human Resources, Benefits and Accounting, to ensure accurate, timely collection and payment of garnishments. This is a full-time position in our Corporate office in Irvine.

Responsibilities

  • Processes court-ordered wage garnishments, including child support, student loans, wage assignments, bankruptcy orders, state and federal tax levies.
  • Collects and maintains electronic files for all withholding orders.
  • Enters wage garnishment orders in our payroll system accurately and in a timely manner
  • Sets up garnishment vendors appropriately.
  • Ensures all garnishment payments are timely, accurate and legally compliant with jurisdiction rules when processing withholding orders.
  • Researches and responds to inquiries from employees, courts, state and federal agencies and others regarding garnishment orders and confirms eligibility.
  • Assists Payroll department with folding, stuffing, and shipping/mailing paychecks.
  • Provides progress reports to appropriate Emplicity team members
  • Represent the Emplicity team effectively by building trust, credibility and promoting transparency.
  • Stays current on multi-state and local tax laws and remedies changes immediately.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all client and employee information.
  • Office administrative support for the team.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

Requirements

We’re looking for a candidate who posses:

  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel
  • Knowledge of basic accounting concepts
  • Outstanding problem solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Team player with exceptional multi-tasking ability
  • PEO/Human Resources outsourcing experience a plus
