Job Description
Encodia is an emerging, early stage biotech company developing the next generation of protein analysis tools. Encodia is seeking to recruit a scientist with 6-12 years of experience in production and QC of microbead materials associated with Next Generation Protein Analysis (NGPA) and Sequencing. The successful candidate will possess excellent laboratory skills in performing Ramp;D and production operations consistently and hands-on experience in analytical tools for assessing assay beads and surfaces. This position will involve research and collaboration with teams that interface between material science, chemistry, and bio-conjugation on solid supports. Requirements
Your Responsibilities
- Establishing strategy to improve the efficiency and signal to noise in Encodia proteomic sequencing technology by optimizing molecular architectures and creating best-suited micro-chemical environments on solid support.
- Designing and executing analytical assays to assess bioconjugation and surface modification processes.
- Producing bioconjugated materials and beads/microspheres for Encodia proteomic sequencing technology.
- Performing materials shelf life studies to define bead performance specification.
- Working cross-functionally across the company with partners in Chemistry, Manufacturing, Molecular Biology, and Engineering teams.
- Distilling, organizing and synthesizing results into cogent and transparent visual aids and presentations to a wide range of both scientific and business audience.
- Contributing to the Company’s strategic direction and IP portfolio.
What You Bring to This Role
- PhD with 6-12 years or MS with 10-16 years of industry experience in Materials Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field.
- Highly skilled chemist/materials scientist with a track record of creative problem solving in biotechnology.
- Direct experience with synthesis and characterization of solid supports (beads), surface modification, and bioconjugation.
- A quick learner with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Capability to thrive in a fast-paced environment as a motivated, enthusiastic, proactive, detail-oriented, and organized individual.
- Desire to be part of a rapidly evolving organization and take products and processes to the commercialization-ready level.
Highly Desirable
- Experience working with DNA, peptides, and proteins is highly desired.
- Hands-on assays experience: fluorescence, UV/Vis, gel electrophoresis, qPCR/PCR is a plus.

Compensation: $141,000-$246,500/year. While compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
