Job Description

CourseStorm streamlines access to education by providing powerful class registration, enrollment management, and marketing tools that are simple for learners and educators to use. We’ve already connected over 1,000,000 students with education and we’re growing fast. We’re seeking a motivated, curious, and skilled software engineer to help us build the future of our platform and amplify the impact we can have.

You'll be a core member of the Product Team, working on projects to help expand CourseStorm's feature set and continue to refine its exceptional user experience. We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys learning, listening, and collaborating to make software that people love to use. You'll be part of an energized startup environment filled with interesting challenges as an early part of our rapidly growing team.


Responsibilities

  • Engineer features, updates, and fixes based on the needs of CourseStorm's current and future customers, working both independently and collaboratively
  • Review code from other team members for quality assurance and to provide feedback on implementation methods
  • Develop new tools to help capture and analyze data to improve our user experience, onboarding and sales process, and support efficiency
  • Support the Product Team’s overall goal of creating a powerful product that’s simple to use
  • Deliver high-quality work in a timely manner to support CourseStorm’s focus on an unmatched user experience
  • Assist junior developers with technical support
  • Participate in continuous improvement and agile retrospective activities

Requirements

  • An unwavering desire to learn new things
  • Flexibility to work on a variety of constantly updating challenges
  • 4+ years of web development or programming experience, professionally or via personal projects (PHP and JavaScript preferred)
  • Full stack experience, including CSS and JavaScript
  • Exceptional ability to troubleshoot, debug, and efficiently solve issues
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Fluency in relational database systems (MySQL preferred)
  • Experience using Unix-like command lines (Linux or macOS)
  • Experience with version control systems (GitHub preferred)
  • Excitement to work in a team environment to achieve aggressive goals
  • A passion to work at a startup company and make a big impact

Additional preferred skills

  • Experience with web application frameworks and MVC architecture
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (including CloudWatch, EC2, and S3)
  • Experience with the agile software development process

Remote work is available and you may choose to work from home. Candidates must live in the US within the eastern time zone, and occasional travel to our office in Orono, Maine, will be required.
