Job Description

As a Payment Poster, you would be crucial to our mission because you will be responsible for posting payments in a timely and accurate manner. On any given day, you could complete payments in patient accounts to reflect accurate balances, correct and refund duplicate payments, or assess an explanation of benefits to ensure correct payments and denials. What would you do as a Payment Poster?

This position focuses its time and effort on the following duties, though others may be required:

  • Enter payments and adjustment data into patient accounts with accuracy and timeliness;
  • Retrieve, process, and archive electronic payments and remittances;
  • Follow regulations and policies/procedures for billing multiple insurance lines;
  • Review explanation of benefits for correct payments and denials;
  • Prepare payment batches to ensure they balance;
  • Log all payments and conveyance batches timely and accurately;
  • Report payment variances to team lead for resolution;
  • Import payment back-up into Docutrak;
  • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality to minimize impacts to staffing schedules;
  • Provide customer service, maintain confidentiality, and abide by HIPAA requirements.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have the following minimum qualifications:

  • Certifications/Education
    • High School Diploma/GED;
  • Knowledge of:
    • Customer service principles and practices.
  • Experience:
    • One year of experience reviewing and submitting medical claims in a medical office environment;
    • Communicating effectively and professionally with various levels of employees, outside entities and customers;
    • Using computer applications including Microsoft Office;
    • Reviewing work and checking for errors to ensure accuracy.

Work Environment

This position operates in a professional office environment.

Physical: The noise level is usually moderate.
