Job Description

Position Overview:

We are looking for a Strategic HR Business Advisor who has a passion for helping Vermont and New Hampshire businesses be successful. If you have a consulting and strategic HR background, we would love to talk with you. An ideal candidate understands how to win clients over with exceptional service and results and expand the scope of the original consulting engagement to meet additional client needs. Experience with executive recruiting and compensation consulting are a plus. The work that you’ll do daily will be forever changing, which is influenced by the needs of our clients, and we need a seasoned professional who can pivot to help with strategic and tactical projects of all sizes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Help our clients determine what business and strategic HR goals they need to achieve and provide them with guidance of how to get there
  • Design and lead organizational development initiatives for our clients that align with strategic and business goals. Earn buy-in from the team to ensure successful implementation.
  • Guide clients on how to drive strategic and tactical goals and solve challenges using data
  • Provide exceptional service and results and become a trusted advisor to clients and their teams
  • Recommend and create competitive pay structures that promote pay equity. Guide leadership through the development and refinement of a compensation philosophy that aligns with recruitment, retention, and budgetary goals.
  • Stay on top of current knowledge of local, state, and federal employment law and compliance requirements to advise clients on HR best practices
  • Offer coaching to leaders to help them develop stronger skills, improve their decision-making abilities, and utilize the full potential of HR within the organization
  • Introduce new ideas to improve employee engagement based on analysis gathered through surveys, interviews, and data
  • Provide talent recruitment solutions that include the following: job description review and rewrite, job posting design, talent sourcing, interviewing, and presentation of candidates to clients
  • Help clients with acute HR needs that include employee relations issues, onboarding new team members, review of compensation and benefit offerings, and conducting performance reviews
  • Develop and administer employee engagement surveys, analyze the results, and create a thoughtful action plan
  • Develop and maintain client relationships and strategic partnerships to grow the practice
  • Write and deliver creative and imaginative proposals/presentations to propose solutions to our clients
  • Maintain a willingness to be adaptable and flexible work on a variety of projects/deadlines simultaneously
  • Strive to exceed client expectations with a high degree of professionalism and discretion
  • Create content and present on a variety of leadership topics
  • Identify and research potential clients
  • Create and implement processes to support the practice
  • Advise on optimizing internal HR systems and processes that impact employee engagement, recruitment and retention, training and development, compensation and benefits, and compliance.
  • Conduct HR organizational assessments to uncover trends that impact turnover, engagement, and employee development, analyze the use of HR best practices, identify issues impacting the organization including succession planning and alignment with the strategic vision and goals, and make recommendations to leadership regarding how to address key findings
  • Assess existing performance management tools currently being used and consider how to reengineer the system to align with employee and leadership development goals
  • Review employee handbooks and provide recommendations as necessary based on HR best practices and current employment laws
  • Provide guidance to leadership regarding how to plan, lead, and implement change management initiatives


Requirements

Qualifications, Education, and Experience:

  • 10+ years of HR generalist experience in a high-growth environment
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • A proven track record as a consultant and strategic HR leader
  • Strong business acumen and market insight
  • Effective influencing, and communication skills
  • Strong sense of diplomacy and tact; ability to build rapport with stakeholders across various levels and functions including C suite
  • Deep knowledge HR best practices
  • Integrity and confidentiality
  • Exceptional judgment and proven ability to work independently
  • Proficiency with all Microsoft Office products
  • The ability to develop, foster, and retain long-term relationsh
