Job Description
Encodia is an emerging, early stage biotech company developing the next generation of protein analysis tools. Encodia is seeking to recruit a scientific leader in the proteomics space to help drive sample preparation solutions for our next generation protein sequencing platform. The successful candidate will bring deep expertise in protein chemistry and the design and implementation of proteomic workflows. This is a cross-functional technical leadership position working at the interface of chemistry, proteins, molecular biology, and engineering. Requirements
Your Responsibilities
- Leading and establishing strategy for protein-based sample preparation for Encodia proteomic sequencing technology.
- Designing and executing analytical assays to assess proteins, peptides, and bioconjugates.
- Working cross-functionally across the company with partners in Chemistry, Manufacturing, Molecular Biology, and Engineering teams.
- Distilling, organizing and synthesizing results into cogent and transparent visual aids and presentations to a wide range of both scientific and business audiences.
- Contributing to the Company’s strategic direction and IP portfolio.
What You Bring to This Role
- PhD with 10-15 years of industry experience in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field with hands on experience developing workflows with protein chemistry.
- Highly skilled protein chemist with a track record of leading teams and delivering creative assay workflow solutions in biotechnology.
- Direct experience with protein chemistry, proteomics, bioconjugation and assay workflow development
- Deep expertise in biochemical and biophysical characterization of proteins and peptides
- Experience with advanced proteomics sample preparation techniques for protein isolation from cells, tissues, and biofluids, sub-cellular fractionation, immuno- or chemical affinity purification
- Skills and experiences in LC-MS/MS applications, method development, and data analysis
- Proficiency in data transformation, extraction, and interpretation of large data sets using common computation tools (e.g. R, Python)
- A quick learner with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to lead and work with cross functional teams
- Capability to thrive in a fast-paced environment as a motivated, enthusiastic, proactive, detail-oriented, and organized individual.
- Desire to be part of a rapidly evolving organization and take products and processes to the commercialization-ready level.
Highly Desirable
- Experience working with DNA, peptides, and proteins
- Experience with NGS workflows
- Experience with product development

Compensation: $177,000-$283,000/year. While compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
