Alvea is hiring! We're looking for a part-time, contracted office assistant who can commit to at least 6 months beginning around June 1st. This is an in-person, part-time role that will work out of our Cambridge office and report to the Office Manager. Hours may vary from week to week with the anticipated norm being 3-5 hours per day, 5 days per week. The rate for this position is $25/hour with some flexibility for exceptional candidates.
Alvea is a fast-paced and fast-growing biotech startup whose critical mission is pandemic prevention. Successful candidates will need to sign an NDA and pass a background check.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Inventory, organize and order office supplies
- Assist the Office Manager with improving the layout and enhancing the aesthetics of the office
- Provide in person IT assistance and support (e.g. troubleshooting wifi, resetting laptops, printer issues)
- Send/receive all mail and packages, ensuring items arrive to the appropriate recipients in a timely manner
- Coordinate with building management, contracted workers and vendors, and serve as on site liaison as needed
- Order food for the office, including snack inventory and lunch/dinner service
- Daily cleaning and tidying of office space to maintain professional and functional environment
- Assist with laboratory operations, including vendor management, weekly safety checks, and biohazard waste management
- Running errands for the office
Requirements
The ideal candidate will be:
- A motivated self-starter who requires limited hand-holding
- Extremely organized with high attention to detail
- A proactive problem solver with the ability to anticipate concerns and bottlenecks and find solutions before delays or problems arise
- Proficiency in G-Suite, Slack, and Notion preferred
- Able to drive with access to a car
- Able to lift 30 lbs
