We are seeking a visionary and experienced Head of Engineering to join our team in Mountain View, CA, and lead our talented engineering team as we continue to innovate and scale our solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the engineering team, including software, hardware, and systems engineering, to ensure successful product development, deployment, and maintenance.
- Develop and implement strategic technical roadmaps, ensuring alignment with Matternet's overall vision and business objectives.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the engineering team, promoting cross-functional collaboration and knowledge sharing.
- Oversee the architecture, design, and development of Matternet's drone delivery systems and associated software, ensuring products meet or exceed customer requirements and regulatory standards.
- Implement best practices for software and hardware development, including agile methodologies, quality assurance, and documentation.
- Identify and manage risks, prioritizing mitigation efforts to minimize impact on project timelines and deliverables.
- Act as a technical expert and liaison between the engineering team and other departments, including sales, marketing, and operations.
- Build and maintain relationships with industry partners, suppliers, and regulatory bodies, representing Matternet's interests and ensuring compliance with relevant standards.
- Mentor and develop engineering talent, creating opportunities for growth and advancement within the team.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; advanced degrees are preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in engineering, with a focus on robotics, autonomous systems, or a related field.
- Proven track record of leading and managing high-performing engineering teams.
- Expertise in software and hardware development, including experience with robotics, embedded systems, and control systems.
- Strong knowledge of industry best practices and regulatory standards, including FAA and other aviation regulations.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and collaborate with diverse teams.
- A passion for innovation and a commitment to delivering high-quality, scalable solutions.
