Roles and Responsibilities:
The FIRES SME is responsible for providing C4I systems support to military units via on-site and remote efforts. This support includes the set-up, configuration, operation, troubleshooting and maintenance for the Advanced Field Artillery Tactical Data System (AFATDS) and other systems that communicate or interoperate with it. These support efforts are provided to military units while deployed, in garrison, in preparation of, and while participating in major exercises and contingency operations.
- Able to provide highly specialized system interoperability and integration support, including over-the shoulder training and troubleshooting for multiple fielded Fires C4I systems and associated tactical networks to Marines deployed and in garrison.
- Familiarity with operation and technical support of one or more of the following additional fire systems: Target Handoff System version 2 (THSv2), Modeled Meteorological Information Manager (MMIM), Joint Automated Deep Operations Coordination System (JADOCS), and Family of Target Acquisition Systems (FTAS) to include AN/TPQ-46 and LCMR radars.
- Working knowledge of the administration and troubleshooting of digital tactical networks over LAN, VHF, UHF, HF, and SATCOM.
- Software experience with Windows 10 and common network administration programs including terminal emulators and packet analyzers.
- General knowledge of Command Center operations and tactical utilization of Fires C4I systems, preferably with a background in either Fire Direction Center or Fire Support Coordination Center.
- Experience with Modeled Meteorological Information Manager (MMIM) providing the capability to create, receive, manage, and transmit meteorological information required to support artillery and target acquisition systems without the use of balloon-borne meteorological systems.
Required Skills:
- Experience with AN/PRS-11 Portable Receive Suite.
- Experience with USMC fires systems, such as AFATDS, JADOCS, G/ATOR (GB-2), FTAS a plus.
- Experience with networking equipment including Cisco switches and routers.
- Experience working with customers, addressing issues, and managing customer concerns and requests over the telephone and/or in person.
- Strong active listening, data entry, and documentation skills.
- Experience writing technical solutions and commercial knowledgebase articles.
- Intermediate analytical and troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and consistent resolution of IT problems.
