Job Description

Provides specific academic, moral, and spiritual instruction to college students as prescribed in PBC curriculum. Equips students with Biblical values for life directives. Supports general development of personal, social, and communication skills in students; including ministry development. Provides pastoral care for students. Performs a variety of routine and special teaching duties. Participates in the development of PBC programs, curriculum and policies. Does related work as needed.

  • Hours: Full-Time, Exempt
  • Ministry Center: Portland Bible College
  • Reports directly to the Dean of College
  • Manages teacher assistants and online course facilitators

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Theology required; Master’s degree or equivalent preferred; Formal training and experience in Christian education preferred; Previous responsible college teaching experience required; General knowledge and use of instruction and communication equipment required; Expert knowledge of Scripture required; Ability to work with, motivate, and relate positively to college students required; Ability to research and analyze theological, Biblical, and other issues required; Ability to develop curriculum, course assignments, and exams required; Proficient in the appropriate range of teaching methods; Ability to accurately evaluate student learning and progress required; Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing required; Ability to utilize Learning Management Systems for course work, grading, discussion forums, etc; Must be able to impart Mannahouse Church vision and values; Must be a member in good standing of Mannahouse, including consistent attendance, ministry participation, and tithing.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for planning, preparing and organizing daily curriculum materials; participates in developing new curriculum materials and in adapting curriculum for online delivery.
  • Responsible for devising teaching methods appropriate to the educational goals for their courses and to the students enrolled.
  • Teaches prescribed PBC curriculum to students as regularly scheduled; studies and researches theological, Biblical, and other issues as needed and as requested.
  • Provides curriculum guidance, counseling and evaluation as needed including advising on schedule conflicts and working on transfer credits from other colleges.
  • Grades students’ coursework in accordance with academic policies; responding to students in a manner that enhances their learning amp; development; making sure that all data and grades are recorded in the Learning Management System.
  • Provides pastoral care and functions as a faculty advisor to students including mentoring, discipling, and counseling.
  • Assists in review and evaluation of student performance, progress reports, third year screening, and awards.
  • Participates in faculty/student activities, encouraging and motivating students.
  • Attends regular and special faculty meetings, Chapel services, and other special PBC functions.
  • Participates in Mannahouse Church ministry.
