The American India Foundation (AIF) is a secular, purpose-driven, impact-oriented entity powered by connection, community, and the commitment to drive social change in India while strengthening the bridge between the civil societies of the world's two largest and most powerful democracies. AIF designs bold solutions to complex problems for communities that need it the most. Our unique value proposition is our capacity to create broad engagement between central and state governments, NGO partners, local communities, civil society, and technical expertise to work at the systemic level to leverage transformation at scale. With poverty alleviation and gender equity as our guiding pillars, we have generated a sustainable positive impact for millions across the most remote parts of India in maternal and neonatal health, education, and livelihoods. Cultivating a robust platform for leadership development, AIF's fellowship program nurtures the next generation of social leaders to drive leadership in thought and action across these categories and beyond. To date, AIF has impacted almost 16 million lives across 36 states and union territories in India. Driven by values of transparency, secularism, and nonpartisanship, AIF remains staunchly dedicated to executing initiatives to further equity, inclusion, and opportunity for marginalized communities in India.
The Role
AIF has been on a high-growth path, with the size of the organization more than doubling in the last 4 years. The program investments have grown more than 3 times. This new role has been created as part of AIF's business sustainability agenda of better stakeholder management and diversification of revenue that sustains and enables further growth in AIF’s impact and influence.
Under the general guidance of the Chief Development Officer (CDO), this role is accountable for 3-4 areas of key strategic importance for the organization senior volunteer engagement, growth of the major gifts portfolio in the US, and better brand recognition and recall, for example, by convening high-quality knowledge events. This post is a visible, external-facing role that will entail independent representation of the organization externally to stakeholders and developing key strategic partnerships and initiatives. The position holder will contribute towards strategy development for the organization and will carry clear, pre-agreed annual development goals.
The delivery of strategic initiatives by the position holder will contribute towards creating and expanding a more effective AIF community that is committed, excited, and passionate about AIF's mission, impact, and influence. On a day-to-day basis, the achievements of the position holder will contribute directly to AIF's efforts on empowering underprivileged women, children, and youth in India and build a lasting bridge between the two largest democracies of the world.
