About the Role
Endeavor seeks a data journalist to join its research team. The data journalist will create data-driven stories and visualizations that will inspire and inform founders, investors, corporates, philanthropies, and governments around the world. The ideal candidate will be passionate about creating new thought leadership and research content that delivers clear, compelling narratives about Endeavor’s distinctive approach to high-impact entrepreneurship.
Responsibilities
- Bringing your top-notch editorial sensibility. Collaborate with researchers, data scientists, and designers to write and publish data-driven studies, newsworthy articles, and content for multimedia platforms about entrepreneurship, tech and innovation, and international development.
- Applying expertise in investigative journalism. Conduct in-depth interviews with entrepreneurs, investors, and support organization leaders from around the world. Implement various data discovery and data cleaning techniques to develop original findings. Validate claims with supporting evidence from secondary sources.
- Creating outstanding data visualizations. Use statistical analysis to uncover patterns and conclusions. Communicate quantitative and qualitative information with eye-catching, beautiful, and on-brand visuals. Build charts, graphs, motion graphics, infographics, and other multimedia assets.
- Collaborating on and creating new initiatives. Partner with our marketing/communications, partnerships, and other internal teams and contract developers to identify data journalism opportunities and deliver new multimedia content. Inform team members internally about data journalism techniques.
Requirements
Great candidates for this role will:
- Thrive at project management with an orientation toward exceeding client expectations and an ability to prioritize across multiple projects.
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Have a strong ability in quantitative analysis using Excel, e.g., familiarity with adjustments of datasets, pivot tables, vlookup/index/match.
- Bring 2-3 years of relevant professional work experience, e.g., news outlet, online publication, media organization, or consulting firm.
- Have a degree in communications, journalism, business, economics, or a related field.
- Bring an interest in entrepreneurship, tech and innovation, and international development.
- Be familiar with or willing to learn SQL, Python, Illustrator, InDesign, Tableau, Flourish, and Canva.
- Be willing to travel (including internationally).

- Competitive salary: The base salary for the Data Journalist ranges from $65,000 to $85,000 with generous bonus opportunities. Actual starting base pay will be determined based on skills, experience, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law.
