Springboard Collaborative invites talented and passionate candidates to apply for the position of Finance Grant Manager. The Finance Grant Manager will be responsible for fiscal budgeting and reporting for all Springboard grant receipts. A successful candidate will act with integrity in representing Springboard’s activities internally and externally, be proactive and take initiative, and be a skilled written and verbal communicator.

Springboard Collaborative closes the literacy gap by closing the gap between home and school. We coach educators and family members to help kids learn to read by 4th grade. Springboard envisions a world in which all children have the requisite literacy skills to access life opportunities. The Finance Grant Manager supports this goal by supporting philanthropic resource projects.

The Finance Grant Manager will report to the Director, of Financial Planning and Analysis and work as part of the Business Strategy team. This is a great opportunity to support an entrepreneurial team to maximize the impact of a rapidly growing organization.

Here are your priorities in the first year:
  • You will complete all requested grant budgets in accordance with established Service Level Agreements
  • You will accurately report grant expenses to external stakeholders to ensure the maximum release of restricted revenue.
  • You will perform an audit of Springboard’s fiscal grant management and share findings and recommended action steps for the Finance Admin team.
  • You will build a positive relationship with key internal grant partners (EDs, Development Team, etc) with a demonstrated increase in stakeholder satisfaction.
  • You will create and maintain a reservoir of evergreen fiscal reports and tools to increase the efficiency of the current grant management process.


Here are your responsibilities within and beyond the first year:
  • You work collaboratively with Springboard’s Partnerships Team, and specifically the Development Team, to win Philanthropic funding.
    • Respond to funder questions related to Springboard’s financial activity
    • Strategize approach to non-standard requests
    • Be available to advise and review grant narrative to ensure alignment with budgets
  • You produce program and project-based budgets to match the requirements of grant applications and properly represent Springboard activity.
    • Understand Springboard’s programming model to develop standardized templates for offering specific program budgets. Program budgets should correspond to program activity but be flexible enough to cover general operating activity
    • Anchor national philanthropic grant proposals to key organizational growth and innovation projects
  • You rack grant-related expenditures to provide funder budget reports upon request and to ensure acceptable usage of restricted funds.
    • Utilize both formal (Sage Intacct and Salesforce) and informal (Google Sheets) tools to support easily accessible reporting on grant activity.
    • Develop a tight logical system for allocating operating activity by grant terms.
    • Assist the accounting function with maintaining accurate recording of restricted versus unrestricted grant revenue.
  • You serve as a subject matter expert on grant budgeting and reporting in general and Springboard practices specifically.
    • Commit to continued professional development in the area of grant budget management
    • Document standard operating procedures to control for appropriate usage of philanthropic revenue
    • Manage external documentation that is shared with grant funders
  • You perform ad hoc financial analysis related to Springboard philanthropic revenue and grant-funded expenses and of a more general nature as required.
    • Assist key stakeholders in analyzing and managing regional and project funding
    • Support the Director of FPamp;A, and the Finance Team in general, on key strategic planning projects
