Job Description

TechFlow is searching for a talented Payroll and AP Accountant to join our team in San Diego, CA. The Payroll and AP Accountant will have experience in payroll and accounts payable processing in a complex, multi-state, growth-driven environment. This will be a hybrid role with at least 1 day a week in our San Diego office.


Key Responsibilities
  • Payroll
    • Manage all payroll functions including prevailing wage and workers’ comp reports and audits.
    • Process semi-monthly payroll for approximately 125 employees using web-based Deltek Costpoint accounting and timekeeping system and Paylocity payroll service.
    • Validate employee setup in accounting and payroll systems to ensure payroll accuracy.
    • Post and reconcile payroll transactions in the general ledger, including employee taxes and benefits.
    • Process complex timesheets with multiple allocations and pay rates.
    • Research and resolve payroll and timesheet related issues.
    • Maintain payroll database and file payroll records in a timely manner.
    • Prepare payroll reports required by Federal, State and other agencies.
    • Accurately calculate hours and pay, including tax withholdings and other payroll deductions.
    • Conduct appropriate reviews and reconciliations to ensure data integrity.
    • Assist in annual audit and other regularly required audits.
  • Accounts Payable
    • Managing all A/P functions including review and entry of invoices and payments, including employee expense reimbursements.
    • Process subcontractor employee timesheets and reconcile to vendor invoices.
    • Audit and process vendor annual 1099 forms.
    • Maintain vendor master data including W-9s and invoices.
    • Process A/P for a weekly check run and send out checks in timely manner.
    • Cross-train with other department positions to ensure seamless operation of accounting functions.
    • Work as part of the Accounting/Finance team to provide complete and accurate organization support.
    • Other duties include accounting for petty cash and bank deposits and other assistance as needed

Requirements

  • 6+ years of general accounting, accounts payable, and payroll experience
    • Bachelors Degree in Accounting or a related field will substitute for four years of work experience
  • Familiarity with payroll laws
  • Experience working in fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
  • Experience with Deltek accounting system
  • Experience with Paylocity or other web-based third-party payroll systems
  • Proficiency in a computerized accounting system
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • US Citizenship with the ability to obtain Public Trust Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field of study
  • Data management skills, including the ability to enter data accurately, produce reports, and create Excel spreadsheets.
  • Ability to work on multiple and concurrent tasks with constant interruptions in a busy office environment
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in order to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management, staff, and clients
