Program Description: The Program Management Office task, supporting the Digital Innovation for General Services Administration (GSA) Infrastructure Technologies (DIGIT) task order, is relied upon to provide overarching guidance and management support for infrastructure engineering projects to assist with the design, documentation, and implementation work. All solution engineering shall follow the GSA framework and methodology. Such projects may consist of building and deploying new networks and infrastructure components (including security features) as well as removing existing network features and infrastructure components.

Position Description: As the Chief Solutions Architect - Infrastructure/Security, your day-to-day activities will be performed in conjunction with DIGIT and Government leaders. The day-to-day support may include supporting projects, tasks, and activities throughout projects’ life-cycles; providing status updates and resolving problems, issues, or conflicts, as required; and ensuring that program schedule, costs, performance, and deliverables are met.

The Chief Solutions Architect - Infrastructure/Security will combine expert-level engineering experience and an innate drive to improve existing systems and processes, with the creativity to develop novel solutions to evolving challenges. This position is accountable for developing solutions that ensure the availability and reliability of critical platform services, application and development of new solutions, ensuring they meet the requirements of internal users, external users and security. This role is expected to collaborate with business leaders in building and running sustainable production systems, which can evolve and adapt to changes in a government environment. This role is also responsible for supporting new technologies and initiatives designed to add business value.

Responsibilities: The Chief Solutions Architect - Infrastructure/Security shall perform the following (to include but not limited to) activities:

  • Oversee the development of infrastructure management processes amp; procedures along with relevant documentation including architecture diagrams, System Implementation Plans, Standard Operating Procedures, Operational Level Agreements.
  • Oversee the development and integration of strategy amp; program for the delivery of security services in support of the IS Governance, Risk, and Compliance function within GSA IT and DIGIT.
  • Leads the overall technology assessment and selections across product portfolios to create a homogenous architecture with simplicity, automation, and innovation.
  • Provide Strategic Leadership related to engineering and security innovations and provide alignment with organizational strategic direction and timelines.
  • Assist in the development of a multi-year strategic plan driving implementation and innovation to achieve full automation ambition
  • Ensures the digital transformation strategy aligns with organizational strategic direction and architectural/security requirements.
  • Provide Architectural and Security support where possible to ensure the enterprise has the appropriate infrastructure to support all business-related capabilities and support.
  • Advise cross functional teams to sufficiently achieve technical and procedural goals.
  • Regularly review technical detail from delegate teams and produce executive-level reports and analyses.
  • Communicate with both technical team members as well as executive/management level individuals.
  • Support in-production go-live activities such as coordination of infrastructure, engineering support, and architectural reviews as well as engagement with security.
  • Provide guidance to management and executives regarding planning future direction for existing infrastructure including but not limited to public/private cloud migrations.
  • Apply the security models defined in NIST SP 800-53, SP 800-88, and provide guidance to the team regarding generalized security control models.
  • Supporting environment with over 15,000 machines, physical virtual Servers and Workstations.
  • Supporting Multi-mix environment composed of Windows, Unix, Linux
  • Ability to assess problems and identify quick workarounds while working towards long-term strategic solutions.
  • Assist in creating, managing, and updating continuous integration (CI) / continuous delivery (CD) pipelines using tools such as Gradle, Docker, GitHub, Chef, Nexus, Jenkins, JUnit, Tomcat, SonarQube, Selenium, Cucumber, etc.
